Curiosities for Gourmets...

Close to the sea, at the foot of the Cevennes, Nīmes lies amongst olive trees, vineyards and is bathed in the fragrance of the garrigue.

This outstanding geographical location explains the diversity and the quality of its gourmet specialties...
Olives as well as olive oil and other derivative products.
The type of olive grown in Nīmes, the famous 'picholine,'
is eaten when still green and is made into a fruity olive oil or used in an appetizer in which olives are ground up with anchovies and capers yielding one of the specialties of the region, 'tapenade,' to be eaten with fresh country bread.

Vinyards and Wine
Some very good wines, Cōtes du Rhōne or Costičres de Nīmes are produced in and around Nīmes and can be tasted in the numerous wineries near the city or in fine liquor stores. Curiosities for Gourmets (Page 2)
